GIULIO TURCATO AT THE ART HOTEL IL GUELFO BIANCO OF FLORENCE!

After the success of our past article on Aldo Mondino –whose retrospective in Villa Croce, Genova, was extended until the 8th of January 2017 – it gives me great pleasure to announce that the collection of the art hotel Il Guelfo Bianco of Florence now has a new, precious work of art.
Giulio Turcato has been one of the greatest interpreters of abstract and Italian art of the 20th century, a permanent presence at the prestigious Biennale Art Exhibition in Venice, where his work has been exhibited for forty years over a total of fifteen exhibitions.
In our hotel near the Accademia Gallery in Florence, Turcato will be present with his work “Moon Surface”, exposed at the Galleria Il Ponte from the 13th of January to the 14th of April. This painting is typically representative of his style: oil painting and mixed media on rubber foam, out of spectrum colours stand out and where new and wonderful things happen inside its frame.
Wonderful things also happen surrounding art, an amazing catalyst of people, lives and experiences. I always like to remember when Luisa and I decided together – this being our essential rule – to buy “Moon surface” after hosting Mara Coccia, a famous gallery owner from Rome, also a lovely person, full of humor and joy.
Mara, who had turned eighty-five the month before, described to us with contagious passion the paintings of Staccioli, Schifano, Perilli and she also praised the work of Giulio Turcato, defining him as one of the most remarkable artists who had “attended” her house-gallery in Via de Corso, Rome.
Thrilled by the meeting with Mara, and thanks to the Gallery Il Ponte of Florence, we decided to buy ourselves a gift and to offer all of you a chance to view an important testimony of the work of a great Italian artist, influenced, in his artistic path, by Kandinsky, Picasso and Matisse while studying in Paris and by the meeting and consequent friendship of Emilio Vedova and Renato Guttuso.
We would be delighted to have you as our guests in Florence and to accompany you to the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Giulio Turcato; as I said before, art brings people together and we never miss an opportunity to share our passion and regenerate our souls.
