A few steps away from the Florence Cathedral, our Il Desco Bistrot is a cozy place for people from all over the world, a place where good food and hospitality work together to produce cooking that is free from any preconception, prejudice or barrier.
That is why, besides our gluten free and vegetarian meals, strictly made with fresh farm-to-table ingredients, we also serve traditional dishes from Tuscany, to offer a taste of the authentic Italian and Tuscan flavours.
An open door philosophy into an exclusive yet absolutely informal environment, where every day Giulia exchanges ideas with her chefs in order to create seasonal menus not only for meat-eaters, but also for vegetarians and vegans, with special care given to those who would like to taste something different and for those with food intolerances.
The chefs Fabio, Francesco and Enrico, share a common passion for quality ingredients and for meals prepared to order, very often steamed in order to keep the organoleptic properties of the food, an invitation to seize the day and take advantage of what the kitchen is preparing at that moment.
Shams’s job is to prepare the desserts and to choose the wines that will accompany the different meals offered by the restaurant; in a triumph of aromas and an array of flavours, an expert guide is always necessary to select the bottles from the best wine cellars of the region.
Our openness, our wish to welcome everybody and the feeling that we are citizens of the world is part of our job and it’s also due to the wonderful position that our Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco and our restaurant boast in Florence, in the heart of culture, of history and one of the most visited places in the world.
For this reason all of our staff know all of our menus by heart in order to better serve those with coeliac disease or food allergies. Their courtesy and competence allows them to be able to advise which are the best dishes according to the needs of the people sitting at our tables.
Feeling understood and accepted makes you feel at ease, especially for those who are travelling in a different city and a foreign country, when they find that they are welcomed and given the best advice to eat and enjoy life! This is the real objective of our team!
